First Sunday of Lent / Burn Down the Mission

Posted: February 21, 2010 in Uncategorized

A crazy title? Yep! For me it’s the first Sunday of Lent, the 40 or so day march toward Easter. For a Catholic, it’s a time of introspection and spiritual cleansing. It’s as simple as taking a good look at the things standing between me and God ( all worldly things that distract me ) and moving them out of my way so that I can gain a greater inner peace.
Once that is done ( and it’s not easy sometimes ) I feel pretty renewed and grateful for all I have. You know, there is an Elton John song from the 70’s that rails against the power that worldly instruments have over us. “Burn Down The Mission” was a great but little known call to spiritual arms against the things that try to take our peace and lives from us for their own needs and desires. It’s below.
Have a Great Sunday!
Paul
P.S. Don’t forget, we have another week of Olympic competition and the US is in the lead.
